About Carlos Montoya
"I see the world as a migrant, and tell it as a comedian."
Carlos is a Latin American comedian based in the Netherlands 🇳🇱. Originally from Venezuela 🇻🇪, with Colombian roots🇨🇴, and having lived in México🇲🇽, he's undeniably Latino (whatever that means).
His comedy -in English🇬🇧 and Spanish🇪🇸- comes from a profoundly personal place: being a latino living in Europe.
"My goal is to make people laugh, no matter who's listening.
For instance, to a person who has gone through it, the fun in a joke about adding water to shampoo so it lasts longer comes from feeling that you're not the only one.
On the other hand, for someone who's never had to do it, the fun comes from hearing a different perspective of the world. Or simply laughing of somebody else's misfortune." - Carlos
Thanks to his style, Carlos has started making a name for himself in the European stand-up comedy scene, both in English and Spanish. In 2025 he premiered his first show, named (E)Migrante, it was a one-time performance and it was sold out.
Last but not least, has been an opener and shared stage with huge referents of the Standup Comedy Scene in Spanish, such as Sofía Niño de Rivera, Led Varela, Carlos Ballarta, Ricardo O'Farrill, Luis Chataing, David Navarro, among others.

Highlights
First time, ever 🎤
April 10, 2024, was my first night doing standup comedy. I'll never forget that night: it was an Open Mic at La Risa Dam in Amsterdam.
Less than a year later, I had already performed over 100 times (in both English and Spanish).
Opener for
Led Varela 🇻🇪
In October 2024 I had the opportunity to open for Led Varela in Amsterdam , one of the stops of his European tour.
It was my first time opening for another comedian, and I was lucky enough that it was for one of my idols. It was a great and unforgettable night at the main room of Boom Chicago.
Touring around
The Netherlands 🇳🇱
Thanks to comedy, I've had the opportunity to visit cities I didn't know exist (others I knew, tho).
For instance, this photo was taken in Wageningen, during one of Emma's Comedy Nights. It's one of my favorite places to perform.
My first Standup
Festival 🎙️
In March 2025 I had the opportunity to participate in my 1st Standup Conmedy Festival (@standupeurope) which was in Lisbon 🇵🇹
Besides being a fantastic experience with dozens of comedians from all over Europe, I'm left with this photo as a souvenir. I use it every chance I get, like here.
My first show...
Sold Out! 🎟️
On May 1st, 2025, I premiered my first show, called (E)Migrante. It was a one-time performance in Amsterdam (at the Black Cat Theater) and it was sold out .
It was one of my most significant milestones as a comedian, and I hope it's just the first of many more shows to come!
Opener for Sofia Niño de Rivera 🇲🇽
On June 1, 2025, I had the opportunity to open the final show of Sofía Niño de Rivera's European tour.
It was a very special night. In addition to meet her, I had the opportunity to perform in front of the largest audience I've ever had - nearly 900 people, at the Amsterdam Theater.
